From the Pastor May 2024

It was so hard this time to write this letter because we have so many things coming in May. We are still celebrating the post resurrection appearances of Jesus, and we will have the National Day of Prayer, Mother’s Day, Ascension of the Lord, and Day of Pentecost. How could I connect all these celebrations or at least some of them in one piece? One image came immediately to mind: my grandmother’s morning prayer. My grandmother was a woman of prayer. My grandfather served in the army, and she was a stay-at-home mom. When she was young, she moved a lot due to the wars in the region. They lived in the same city where I grew up, Port Said. We used to spend some weekends in their home; my grandmother had the best food and drinks ever! She would wake up early, take a shower, and pray. She learned how to pray when she was a little kid. I watched her kneeling in the living room in front of the large picture of the Lord’s Supper. She lived and died for Jesus Christ, experienced the power of prayer, and understood the presence of the Holy Spirit in her life. She taught us how to love, live, and pray. We have so many important women in our life, like my grandmother! Mother’s Day would not be enough to recognize the key women in our life: mom, stepmom, grandmother, aunt, wife, daughter, friend, and/or anyone else. They have given us a lot and their valuable care motivates us. So please take time to honor them.
Finally, I would like to share two special news items:
We finished our Bible study: “Discover Your Joy: A Study on Philippians.” We had around 20 people each evening and enjoyed a wonderful fellowship and study. We discussed five recommendations from Paul to us that can help us increase or rediscover our joy. These pieces of advice are: Live the Gospel of Christ (1:12-30), Be Humble “Humility” (2:1-16), Care for Others (2:17-30), Know the Lord (3:1-21), and Advocate for Unity (4:1-9). We recognize our high school graduates: Kylee Rose Hensley, Jay Snyder, and Claire Moore.
We are so happy for their great achievement and pray for their next steps!
Blessings!
Pastor Ramy
