From the Pastor ~ October 2025

Dear Friends,

Luke 17:11–19 tells a wonderful and familiar story about a man healed of leprosy who returned to give thanks. Ten men cried out to Jesus for mercy and were healed on their way to see the priests; but only one came back, fell at Jesus’ feet, and praised God. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?”

We see ourselves in that story, don’t we? God pours out blessings on all of us; yet only a few return with hearts full of gratitude, offering their time, gifts, and resources to God’s work. That spirit of thanksgiving is noticed not only by those around us but by Christ himself.

Thanks to your generosity and faithfulness, our church has continued to share the good news in powerful ways: we have gathered every week for meaningful worship, offered a welcoming space through our beautiful buildings, shared fellowship meals, sustained an active youth ministry, supported more than 250 families impacted by Hurricane Helene, and reached hundreds of people online with the message of hope in Christ. These are just a few examples of what we accomplish together as God’s family.

I want to thank each of you who have supported our mission with your prayers, time, talents, and financial gifts. Because of your partnership, Erwin Presbyterian Church continues to live out our calling to learn, live, and share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

As we close out our 2025 budget and begin planning for 2026, we find ourselves about $20,000 short in regular offerings. I invite you to prayerfully consider making an extra gift in the coming weeks to help us meet this goal and prepare faithfully for the year ahead. Every contribution — no matter the size — makes a real difference and helps us continue the vital ministries God has entrusted to us.

You can give online at this link, place your offering in the collection plate, or bring it directly to the church office. However you choose to give, please know that your generosity not only sustains our congregation but also extends God’s love to our neighbors near and far.

Before I close, I want to share two pieces of good news with you:

Welcome Leah Delp! We are delighted to welcome our new administrative assistant, Leah Delp. Leah and her family are longtime friends of our church and the Erwin community. With her creativity in graphic design and her quick learning, Leah has already made significant contributions to our newsletters, bulletins, and social media. Please stop by the office and give her a warm welcome.

A Legacy Gift for Mission. Katherine and Jeff Bowen have made a generous gift to our mission fund in memory of Katherine’s parents, Charles and Elizabeth Honeycutt. This endowment will strengthen our Faith Promise Fundand help support global Christian mission for many years to come.

Thank you again for all the ways you support the life and ministry of Erwin Presbyterian Church. I am deeply grateful for you, and I trust that, like the one who returned to thank Jesus, we will continue to respond to God’s grace with grateful and generous hearts.

See you soon,

Dr. Ramy Marcos
