From the Pastor August 2024
We usually tend to imagine a box for ourselves, others, and God. We plan what to do and what we expect. When we face unexpected things, we try to eliminate what is outside our imagined box, or force them to fit in. The Almighty is beyond any box we may create for Him. We don’t fully recognize His presence and ways because He is incomprehensible!
Think for example of God’s grace and miracles. Inside the human box, sinners have to be punished and go to eternal condemnation; outside the box, God saves sinners by His grace and they go to heaven. Miracles are another example of walking with God outside human limitation of expectations, God is beyond our understanding. Some people try to force miracles into human understanding when they say “Miracles are nothing more than a natural law not yet discovered.” Really, feeding 5000+, walking on water, healing a person, and raising a dead person will be explained by future knowledge. God is God; He is much bigger than our small box, and natural laws CANNOT- bind him!
In the coming weeks, we will closely walk with Jesus to discover how to walk with God outside the box. I would encourage all of us to bring our imagined boxes, test them, and set our minds free from these limited visions. If you know people who need to experience God in His full power, please invite them to worship with us.
Lastly, we have a long prayer list these days. We pray for guidance for all students and instructors in secondary schools and colleges in this new academic year. We also pray for our members who lost a loved one during these past weeks: Nikki Engle, Callie Faircloth, and Karen Gentry and Laurie Wieder. We pray for Kendell Hensley and her family that she will recover soon and come back home.
