From the Pastor July 2024

At the end of our youth mission trip, we had a question session led by our youth. They asked amazing questions that we tried to answer as our time allowed. These questions will be a great source for my future sermons and writings! One question was, “How can we apply what we learned on this trip in our lives?” We had several good answers: one was to be kind to all people in everything we do. What a great lesson from our youth to us! Kindness (selfless, compassionate, and merciful) is a key value in our Christian faith. Jesus blessed the merciful (Matthew 5:7), and the Holy Spirit gives us kindness as a spiritual fruit (Galatians 5:22). Being kind means desiring to improve another person’s life with loving
thoughts and actions. We can be merciful in all locations: home, church, work, neighborhood, nation, and the entire world. At DC Central Kitchen, our youth prepared healthy meals for people. At Martha’s Table, they distributed fresh vegetables, fruits, etc. to poor people. They sorted used clothes to be sold. In all these activities, our youth were kind to all people; they showed great compassion! They came back excited to do more; they were inspired. Can’t we be inspired by this flaming passion and fully support it? We are happy to welcome our new administrative assistant, Rebecca (Becca) Williams. Although Becca previously worked in cosmetology, her passion for helping people, her ability to learn quickly, and her great office management skills will benefit the church ministry and give a fresh perspective. Please stop by her office at any time and welcome her to Erwin Presbyterian Church.
Have a good summer,
Pastor Ramy
