From the Pastor November 2024
The author of Hebrews highlights two core needs that humanity has in its relationship with the Creator: to hear from God and to be reconciled with Him. We need an apostle to reveal God’s word and a priest to lead us back to God. Over time, God sent numerous prophets and priests to restore a right relationship with humanity, reaching out in various ways to stay connected with His creation. Now, in His ultimate act of love, God has sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, who is both the fullest revelation and the perfect reconciliation. Unlike any prior efforts, Jesus stands unique. If angels, prophets, priests, and sacrifices were effective in their roles, Jesus is far better. They were excellent; Jesus is more excellent. Jesus, the greatest revelation and ultimate salvation, is God.
Therefore, we, as God’s people, fix our thoughts on Jesus. We don’t merely reflect on Him and His teachings from time to time; we are fully committed to Him and His message. We intentionally place Jesus at the center of our hearts and minds and follow Him. Our identity and faith are built on Jesus Christ and His teachings, which is why we are called Christians. In Him, we find the confidence and hope to remain connected with God—not by our own merits, but through Jesus, our Creator and Redeemer. Our hope rests not in our actions but in what Jesus has already accomplished. Our role is to cling firmly to this confidence and hope in Christ.
As November marks the close of the Christian calendar, I invite you to join me in studying the identity and work of Jesus through the book of Hebrews. This study will strengthen our faith amid the many unknowns and shifts we face at local, national, and global levels.
Finally, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for your generous support of the church’s relief efforts for those impacted by Hurricane Helene in October. Through your help, we provided $100 gift cards to 142 families (totaling $14,200), offering not only material support but also listening ears and prayers. We hope to continue aiding these families as they begin the journey of recovery. None of this would be possible without your kindness and the generosity of our friends. Please keep supporting us through your prayers, time, and/or donations.
Blessings,
Pastor Ramy
